“Let the children come to me and do not prevent them; for the kingdom belongs to such as these.” (Mk 10:14)
Jesus’ words of welcome to the children of his time, of which we are familiar with from the Gospels, were not words meant only for the children of that time in history, but are words that were meant to be eternal and true for us today. Words that we here at St. Gertrude the Great School, strive to make a reality for all in our community who come to us seeking a catholic education for their children. We provide this by offering children a well-rounded academic experience. An experience where faith in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and care and love for one’s neighbor, permeates the curriculum and culture of our school. It is my belief that if one “seeks first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, all these things will be given you besides.” (Mt 6:33). As a former catholic school educator and now as current pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Church and school, it has been my experience that this is what best prepares our children to be wise and successful in this life, so that they can eventually join all of us, and all people of good will, in helping make God’s kingdom come, here on earth, as it is in heaven.
It is with this belief in mind that I, as pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Church and School, say thank you to all the dedicated faculty, staff, parents, parishioners, and benefactors, for helping God’s will be done in the lives of our children. I also extend a warm welcome to you, as you view our website and hopefully visit us in person.
God bless you,
Fr. Nabor Rios
Pastor, St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church
